Admission


 

 

Applications are invited in plain papers containing full bio-data in the prescribed format for recruitment of Junior Research Fellows (JRF) and Research Associates (RA) in all Departments/Units/Centre of IACS 

Junior Research Fellow 

Essential Qualifications:   Candidates should have first or high second class M.Sc degree in Biological sciences/Chemistry/Physics and their interfaces with minimum average of 55% marks in B.Sc.(Hons.) and M.Sc. examination along with good overall academic record.  Candidates must qualify in NET/GATE examination .  

Fellowship : Rs.25,000/- p.m. plus HRA and medical reimbursement for self as per rules of the Association. 

Research Associate

Essential Qualifications: Candidates should have Ph.D degree in Biological Science/ Chemistry/ Physics and their interfaces with first or high second class M.Sc degree with minimum average of 55% marks in B.Sc and M.Sc examinations with an aptitude of doing innovative research work. 

Associateship : 36,000/- (for RA-I), 38,000/- (for RA-II) and 40,000/- (for RA-III) per month, depending on experience + HRA and medical reimbursement for self as per rules of the Association. 

We have limited number of Hostel accommodation which may not be available immediately but will be considered for future allotment, as and when available. 

The recruitment process at the various levels is a continuous one. Selection may not be restricted among those who apply. For outstanding candidates, the experience can be relaxed.

Offer can be made to deserving candidates at scales commensurate with knowledge, background and experience.

Applications can be sent electronically, either to the concerned faculty or to Office of the Dean (Academic & Students' Affairs), IACS, Jadavpur, Kolkata-700032 at deanacad@iacs.res.in. The concerned faculty/department will have academic independence in the selection process as per rules, depending on vacancies or research requirements. In case an applicant is found suitable for a particular research group, the concerned faculty may call the incumbent/s for interview/presentation. Final selection will be done by a duly formed selection committee having external expert/s.

The Department/Unit/Centre and the faculty members may call for applications by putting up standing or need-based advertisements to suit their specific research requirement.

The positions are temporary and the candidates selected will have no right to claim (explicit or implicit) any post in the institute.

Institute Fellows for the PhD. program will be admitted during the period October 15 - December 14 (Autumn Semester) and April 15 - June 15 (Spring Semester) in a year.
