Sealed item rate tenders in two part bidding systems (Part I: technical bid and Part-II: price bid) are invited from bonafide, resourceful and eligible manufacturers/exclusive distributors who are enlisted to Indian Association for the Cultivation of Science, for a “Bell-Jar Type Laboratory Vacuum Arc Melting Furnace with Power Supply” at Indian Association for the Cultivation of Science, 2A & 2B, Raja S. C. Mullick Road, Jadavpur, Kolkata -700032, by 10.11.2010. Manufacturers/exclusive distributors should have past history of supplying this type of furnace to other organizations.

 Required specifications are as follows:

(1) The arc melting furnace with single arc will be used for melting metallic buttons (5-10 g).

(2) Bell-jar type vacuum melting chamber capable of sustaining 10^-5 mbar or better vacuum. The bell-jar should be attached with anode-cathode assembly. The anode tips should be made of tungsten.

(3) Suitable copper hearth should be attached to the bottom of the bell-jar for multiple button arc melting. There should be view ports attached to the bell-jar.

(4) The top electrode should be attached through a bellow to the bell-jar.

(5) Gas venting and vacuum ports should be attached to the chamber. Over pressure safety valves are essential for the melting chamber.

(6) Approximate diameter of the bell-jar is about 12 inches.

(7) The bell-jar, Cu-hearth and the electrodes should be water cooled.

(8) High current dc arc supply (200 Amps or more) along with power cables should be provided.

(9) Short circuit protection should be provided for the power supply and the electrode assembly.

(10) No pumping system is required, however there should be pumping ports (KF type) to the chamber for connecting the external pumps.
