Transport gap and Optical gap

Transport gap of Si has been tuned through surface passivation with a monolayer of nanoparticles. Transport gap of quantum dots can similarly be modified by addition of a monolayer of a dye as a shell-layer.

Molecular rectifier; rectification in a nanowire

Assembly of a donor molecule and an acceptor molecule acts as a half-wave organic-rectifier. When dopant was introduced in a section of vertical nanowires,  the nanowire acts ac a rectifier.

Organic Memory

Electrical bistability and related organic memory in a monolayer of organic molecules observed. The phenomena have been assigned to be due to electroreduction of the molecules with associated conformational change.
