Short bio-data :

Born in 1949, Calcutta, Saswati Lahiri did her M. Sc. from Jadavpur University in 1970 and joined Bhowanipur Education Society College as a lecturer. Then she joined Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur in 1971 where she completed her doctoral thesis with Professor M. V. George. She then joined the present department in 1977 as a lecturer where she is still continuing as a professor. In 1988, she visited Max Planck Institute für Strahlenchemie, Germany as a Guest Scientist and worked in the group of Professor K. Schaffner till 1990.

Current Research Interest :

Organic photochemistry : Photochemistry of enones; Exploring chromophore-selectivity in photochemistry of mixed enones; Electron transfer reactions; Solid state photoreactions
 

Future plans :

Look for structure-reactivity relationship in photoreactions Application of Organic photochemistry for preparing organic materials.
