ABOUT THE SPEAKER
Sankar Das Sarma is a Distinguished University Professor and also the Director of the Condensed Matter Theory Centre at the University of Maryland, College Park, USA where he has been in the in the physics faculty since 1980. Professor Das Sarma received his Ph. D. in physics from Brown University in 1979. He is widely published and highly cited theoretical condensed matter physicist with broad interest in both quantum and classical condensed matter physics. He is an ISI Highly Cited Scientist with about 12,000 citations to his publications. Prof. Das Sarma's recent honors and awards include Miegunyah Fellowship and Lectureship of the University of Melbourne, Australia; Daniel C Tsui Distinguished Lectureship of the Institute of Physics, Beijing, China; and the Brown University Distinguished Alumnus Award.
