A conference on "'Symposium on Atomic, Molecular and Optical Sciences: A Seamless Frontier'" is being organized at the Vedic Village (website: http://www.thevedicvillage.com/resort/), a resort very near to Kolkata during January 10-12, 2008. The conference is being held to mark the inauguration of the Centre for Atomic, Molecular and Optical Sciences in our Institute. Day one of the conference has been dedicated for Atomic, Molecular and Optical Sciences and the other two days for High Performance Scientific Computing. The conference will focus on diverse aspects of electronic structure of atoms/molecules and optical sciences. The conference will have invited talks by experts from different countries and poster presentations from research students in this area. Students interested to present posters are requested to send their application to atmol_hpc08@iacs.res.in. Application deadline is November 30, 2007. Acceptance will be communicated by December 20, 2007. We expect around 40 participants in this conference. Registration Fee: 5000 INR (For Speakers) There will be shuttle bus service from IACS to Vedic Village and back during the conference days. There will be one trip to and one trip back at some fixed time, which will be informed later. All participants willing to present posters or attend lectures as external participants are requested to fill in the registration form and send by email to atmol_hpc08@iacs.res.in by November 30, 2007.
